Dear A,
You asked me to write a text on my artist statement in 800 to 1000 characters, including the spaces. I
have already got some vague writings of that sort but I am never fully satisfied with them. The
question as Michel Foucault* writes is that ‘what we say never fits what we see’. I even wonder
whether anyone reads these texts in exhibition catalogues. For that matter, I don’t know what you
think about it, but sometimes it seems to be worse than that it bogs down the desire to even look at.
To keep it short, let’s say it’s the mental space within which the gaze gets engulfed that interests me.
And how a painting, a drawing, an installation is both a reflection space and a projection medium. In
that sense, I think that the different images arranged in my work are there to leave us on the
threshold of pending dualities... animality / humanity, enchantment / disenchantment, reality /
ghosts.
