The documentary movie Be Quiet & Listen (Diam & Dengarkan) by Anatman Pictures that has been released in June 2020, showed how the world has changed in the past decades and questioned the role of human existence as part of the world species, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic.
The COVID 19 pandemic has enforced us to pause and slow down our pace of life to deal with the unknown circumstances, unanswered questions, uncertainties that we had never experienced before. On the brighter side, it forces us to start reflecting on our memory lane, appreciating what we have, and think about our purpose in life while living in the new normal.
Inspired by the story, this exhibition shows us that our great mind will eventually trigger our individual awareness to help us realise that each of us can take our part and create the energy of collective consciousness to restore our earth.
The current digital world and technology helps ourselves to slow down our pace yet being productive at the same time, including making our commitment to continuously supporting the artist become feasible during this pandemic. In this opportunity we are presenting our first online virtual exhibition The Uncertainty by showing a very distinctive show of Joni Ramlan and Richard Irwin Meyer.
Joni Ramlan’s painting depicts a very dynamic theme that contains a very strong character in lines, colours, and perspectives. It is also portraying a spontaneous technique and artistic composition in every detail. His dynamics painting leaves us a deep impression about his sublimate sensitiveness through shape and space. All the elements look cohesive and constructive. He often uses many different objects to bring his concept more appealing to our visual.
Here, Joni shows his expressionism contemporary technique in the overlapping objects, lines, shapes, and colours that create a deeper thought to his audience. The Memories series depict how the untold civilisation lives constructs the current situation, the things that happened in the past is actually forming us now. The walls, the old house, old building was strongly portrayed in these works as they become the witness and try to reveal the history about the human and their behaviour.
On the other hand, Richard Irwin Meyer's contemporary abstract paintings are strongly influenced by the movement of abstract expressionist and pop art in the fine art. Richard Irwin Meyer's painting has a subject-matter on a mixed cultural material of Asia and Africa as the content of the work.
The Tempted Mind illustrates a courageous decision that Richard made with the representation of dark red with a thin layer of green and dark blue accents in his paintings. It depicts the personal memory that sometimes reappears instantly in his artistic journey. Can not be avoided. Like a daydream that is forced to return to conscious space and listen to the real world around.
On the contrary, Blue Night offers a more complex character with the spontaneous stroke lines, shapes and colours. Reflecting the stage where one's feelings can change immediately, spontaneously, and alternately. Yet we can choose to focus only on one feeling, happiness.
