We also deal wit... more >> Watanuki Ltd. since its establishment in June 1995 has been promoting the pioneers of Japanese avant-garde art. They are represented at the gallery mainly by Ei-Q, who in the 1930s created his photograms, and in the 1950s founded the avant-garde group “Democratic Artists Association”, Shuzo TAKIGUCHI, who was the leader of the group “Jikken Kobo” (Experimental Workshop), and the abstract painter Toshinobu ONOSATO.
We also deal with the contemporary artists Yayoi KUSAMA, Andy Warhol, Aiko MIYAWAKI, and Takao ONO. Watanuki Ltd. equally introduces works of young, original artists influenced by Japanese tradition such as Takeshi HAGURI and Takuro NOGUCHI. Dealing with many drawings and prints on architecture, we have been producing most of the prints by Japan’s representative architects Tadao ANDO and Arata ISOZAKI. In recent years we marketed vintage prints by Eikoh HOSOE, Shoji UEDA, Ikko NARAHARA, and the photographic work by Jonas MEKAS.
