\n\nPace/MacGill Gallery strives to disse... more >> Pace/MacGill Gallery was founded in 1983 by Peter MacGill, in collaboration with partners Arne Glimcher of Pace Gallery and Richard Solomon of Pace Prints and Pace African and Oceanic Art. Since its inception, the gallery has established itself as one of the premier venues dealing in modern and contemporary photography, presenting over 350 exhibitions and publishing numerous exhibition catalogues.
\n\nPace/MacGill Gallery strives to disseminate the work of its artists to museums, private collectors, and corporate collections around the world. The gallery has had the privilege of representing such masters of photography as Richard Avedon, Harry Callahan, Robert Frank, Emmet Gowin, Paul Graham, Peter Hujar, Josef Koudelka, Richard Learoyd, Richard Misrach, Irving Penn, Alfred Stieglitz, and JoAnn Verburg. The gallery’s partnership with Pace Gallery has also created collaborative relationships with, and/or co-representation of Vito Acconci, Yto Barrada, David Byrne, Chuck Close, David Hockney, JR, Yoshitomo Nara, Robert Rauschenberg, Michal Rovner, Lucas Samaras, Kiki Smith, Fred Wilson, teamLab and Leo Villareal. The gallery has contributed to photography’s growth by mounting exhibitions featuring the most distinguished practitioners of the medium and has also assisted in the development of many new artists’ careers. In recent past years at Art Basel, the gallery has showcased work by emerging artists, including Wilmer Wilson (presented in collaboration with Connorsmith.) and Carmen Winant (presented in collaboration with Fortnight Institute).\n\nPeter MacGill states, “We seek to do our job as a gallery as well as our artists do theirs. They set the standard at the highest level possible and we try to follow suit.”
