THROUGH THE FLOWER…

Entitled "Through the flower", Lass' first exhibition in Paris evokes the contemporary questions taken into account by his country Mali, around the theme of climate change and the threat of ecological disasters. In his compositions, reduced to the essentials, a dialogue seems to be established between the child and the flower, alone and vulnerable, in the space of the canvas. The child instinctively knows that the flower is alive and fragile just like him. The strength of

the flower will depend on that of the child. The artist takes both a critical and optimistic view of our relationship with the world around us and the necessary protection of everything that is alive on earth. A concept well integrated in Mali, in view of the campaigns launched in recent years to combat global warming and for reforestation such as: "Green Bamako", "Save the Niger River" like: "I plant my tree", "My green street "," A Malian, a tree "...
Multimedia artist, Alhassane Konté dit Lass uses acrylic, ash, wood powder for compositions on canvas, paper or plywood and focuses more on the essence of his characters than on their physical accuracy. The artist's recent series describes children with attitudes where only psychological acuity emerges, far from any academic portrait. In his stripped-down compositions, the artist uses a reduced palette where white dominates with a few light shades and subtle tone contrasts. A fluid touch and watercolor's transparencies, especially for the floral decoration of the background, contributes to the delicate chromaticism in which the composition is bathed

Born in 1993, Kodié, Mali, lives and works in Bamako, Mali

In 2017, the artist obtained a BTS in sculpture at the National Institute of the Arts. He then trained at the Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts in Balla Fasséké Kouyaté in Bamako, Mali and was twice winner of the Mali / European Union cooperation competition. LASS is a member of the Tim’Arts Collective, with which he regularly exhibits in Bamako, Segou, participating in collective exhibitions at the National Museum of Mali and the French Institute organized in particular by the Center Soleil dAfrique.
