Christto & Andrew Insight combines a body of new works, conceived in these last complex times.
Christto & Andrew, constantly adopting a paradoxical strategy, create images, emblems of illusion and simulation. They use figures and objects to build a different world, formulating the aesthetics of a suspended time that is self-generated, in a sort of visual and conceptual chain reaction. At first glance their works seem intriguing and alluring but contrasts and juxtapositions expressively "dark" create in the observer a short-circuit of meaning.
Distinguished by their personal and iconic style, the works strike for their alienating dimension that create a disturbing atmosphere with visionary subjects, strong colors, and objects inspired by a chimerical scenery. The duo poetically questions the limit between art and photography, remaining consistent with their language, stylistically and conceptually defined, taking a further step in the definition of an unedited imaginary.
Photography has become a medium that offers a lot of flexibility, which is crucial to Christto & Andrew’s practice, exploring the ways in which it can be adapted. “We find it in some way convenient, especially when you think about how photography has evolved over the past years: we deal a lot with reality, therefore photography provides us with a parallel paradox of interpretation of images while being at the same time a medium that is very influential in everyday life.”
