VCP – Virtual Curating Program

VCP is a platform that supports curators with a network in the art world to create 3D online
exhibitions in renowned institutions.

VCP x Secondary Archive x IKT

VCP in collaboration with the Secondary Archive and the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art (IKT) aims to rediscover and represent contemporary Central and Eastern European (CEE) Women Artists in world-class institutions through 3D exhibitions.

We believe that artists from the CEE region, especially women artists, deserve more
recognition than they currently get for the tremendous amount of work they put into bettering
our culture and society. This is why we would like to bring more attention to these artists by
providing them with exhibition opportunities in online institutions. To do that, we invite globally prestigious museums and galleries to support the project by offering their online spaces and curators to let us help women artists from the CEE region in making their visions come alive.

We propose a collaboration between East and West to celebrate these women, to exchange knowledge and ideas under the guidance of Anda Rottenberg, the eminent Polish art historian. We hope to make a positive impact not just on the reputation of the CEE women artists, but on Western minds too, by reminding them to always keep their horizons open.

Open Call for Curators

The VCP Curators

To make this project happen, we call for curators from all over the world to create their own online exhibitions with the help of our technology. All they need to have is a vision for CEE Women Artists and the passion to make a show. We are going to take care of everything else.

While the project aims to celebrate artists, we don’t want to forget about curators either. This is why we want to thank the curators who take part in it by offering a prize.

The curator of the online exhibition that attracts the most visitors is going to receive a ticket to “Paris+, par Art Basel 2022” from the Online Viewing Room. This art fair marks the first time that Art Basel launches its first Paris fair on October 20th.

How can you become a curator at VCP?

To create your own online exhibition in 3D with the software provided by the Online Viewing Room, you need to do 3 things.

  1. Choose the artist or artists from the Secondary Archive’s portfolio you want to exhibit
  2. Choose the digital twin of the institution you want to exhibit in
  3. Send us your short curatorial concept*

*One curator can apply with more than one concept.

Creating your online exhibition

If your proposal is accepted, you will receive every resource from us needed to create your online exhibition as you envisioned it. After you get the link to your chosen digital twin from us, there are 3 steps to complete before having your online show open to the whole world.

  1. Upload the artworks into the 3D model*
  2. Record your guided tour
  3. Publish your exhibition

*Artworks exhibited in the 3D models can include any kind of paperworks (drawings, paintings, prints, photographs etc) that you can upload in a jpg or png format, sculptures and reliefs that we will prepare for you (you can download the detailed guide on the possibilities from here), video and audio works.
