Art, not misery, acquaints a man with strange bedfellows. When artists Danielle Frankenthal and Jon Pannier, studio neighbors at Mana Contemporary, first saw their work hanging together in a group show, the quote resonated in such a profound way as to cause them to think differently about how they might present their practices to the world.

The two artists’ work cannot be more different in approach, technique, and execution, yet there is an intense synergy of concept, mood, and viewpoint. Both of these artists look at their subjects through an unconventional lens that yields surprising, often delightful, and always unorthodox results.
