The New Beginnings Art Awards is showcasing the amazing talent of women from the community and also from prisons in Surrey.

Using visual art and writing from their souls, women have been given the opportunity to communicate their experiences, emotions and a personal interpretation of this year’s theme, ‘Masks?’

We all wear masks. Take a moment and think about which one you are wearing today.

Whether it’s telling others you are ‘fine’ when in reality, deep down you feel exhausted and really need a holiday away from all of the stress, or whether it’s a mask of confidence because without that mask you feel as small as an ant and there’s no way you’d be able to deliver that
presentation, meeting, training session without it.

Masks can also cover past trauma, and all too often women live with this trauma in secret with no support.

This exhibition is a testament to all the women out there who need that support.

Come and see what they go through and perhaps find your own way to help, through just being more aware of how much talent is really out there hidden under the masks.

The exhibition will be held at the Lightbox, Woking.

Wed 26th October — Sun 27th November 2022
